Tomorrow’s Rugged Shores

I suppose if I looked hard enough,
I might discern a mystical glimmer
rushing by at the pace of starlight,
unconcerned with our small anxieties.

What, then, do the waves teach us
beneath the lingering eventide glow?
Nothing we don’t already know,
inherent to our human condition.

If we suspend the ban on daydreams
just long enough to allow
a brief glimpse into future mornings,
we might see today’s fears

diminish against tomorrow’s rugged shores,
ushering in a quiet calm, a deepening gratitude
that fast approaches a state resembling acceptance.

Written in response to Moonwashed Musings‘ weekly prompt: Mystical. I was late to last week’s prompt, Eventide Glow, so I did my best to incorporate that as well.
