The Truth About Tigers

occasional musings and free verse poetry, approximately

Stargazing on Asphalt

Imagine city lights as distant stars,
the rush of traffic, a river’s roar,
your bedside lamp, now a small campfire
that casts its warmth on solitude
and gently illuminates
quiet thoughts that begin to unfurl
like night-blooming flowers,
lining paths yet to be taken.

Written in response to Lillian’s prompt over at dVerse Poet’s Pub.

Write a quadrille (a poem of EXACTLY 44 words, not including the title) AND include the word “imagine” or a form of the word within the body of the poem.

Jake, your metaphor transforms urban elements into celestial imagery! Well written!

I love this! Made me smile….and then a memory popped into my head of me as a young girl, hiding under my covers at night with a flashlight reading Nancy Drew and imagining I was a detective solving a crime rather than a little girl in her bed! 🙂
