Exit Stage Left

People talk a lot about legacy—
what we’ll be remembered for
after we’re gone.

What we really mean is:
remembered by a few people,
for a little while,
until they’re gone too.

Sure, if you manage something
truly big and original,
your name might last longer—
carried by strangers
for centuries,
maybe even a few thousand years.

But everything has an expiration date.

Believe it or not,
not even Jesus Christ
or Taylor Swift
will survive the heat death of the universe.
